A beautiful oak writing bureau thought to be from the 1920's. This is an amazing piece of history. It has a drop down front which is supported by two concealed arms which effortlessly and automatically extend as the front sloping lid is lowered in to position; as a writing or laptop working surface. The original green leather writing surface remains and is in very good condition. The interior has a selection of small compartments suitable for holding a variety of items. There are three drawers below each hand crafted using traditional methods, with dovetail joints and original brass handles that pin to the inside of the drawers.
This bureau is very compact and versatile piece of furniture and can be used in a variety of rooms for a multitude of purposes such a bedroom or small home office.
The original handles were removed and cleaned. The exterior of the Bureau has been primed and then hand painted with three layers of Dove Grey chalk paint and a layer of clear protective lacquer was used to protect the chalky finish. The interior of the bureau has been panted in contrasting Silk Grey satin paint. As to be expected in a piece that is one hundered years old there are some slight signs of wear. The odd tiny dent and chip has been purposly left to respect its heritage and past life.
The original brass fittings complete the look, unfortunately the key is no longer avaiable and therefore cannot be locked.
